Charlie Thiel
FOUNDER
Fitness, athletics, and adventure have played a significant role throughout my life. These pursuits have led to some of my proudest accomplishments, as well as a few injuries that challenged my youthful belief in my own indestructibility.Along the way, I relied on many practitioners and modalities to keep me fully functional and pain-free, bouncing around from chiropractic offices to massage therapists to fitness centers to acupuncturists. Now that I’m older and a little wiser, I focus on restorative, functional strength training and the many therapeutic offerings at Foundation to undo old injuries and imbalances and continue to get stronger, leaner, and able to engage in all of the activities I want to excel at.
I developed Foundation Health and Fitness to help others do the same, bringing the most beneficial modalities and talented practitioners together to build a community focused on functional strength and total wellness.

Ashley Thiel
FOUNDER
After years of working in business I found a passion for fitness around my late 20s. I became obsessed with kickboxing & dancing, mostly country western & west coast swing. At 33 I was a NASM certified personal trainer as well as certified in kickboxing and PIYO. I worked specifically with women who had insecurities about fitness & helped them gain the confidence to find their place in a traditional gym setting. Unfortunately a back injury placed that journey on hold & in an attempt to keep my life on a health centered trajectory I decided to get my BSN (Bachelor of Science in Nursing) & became a licensed nurse while using every modality available to me to heal my back. After 5 years working in the hospital setting Charlie & I decided to start Foundation Health & Fitness, a one stop shop for health and wellness where many of the amazing practitioners & skilled fitness instructors that put me back together all work under one roof and help others that have struggled with injuries as well as prevent them in the first place. The dream has always been to live a life with a strong physical foundation to extend both lifespan and healthspan for ourselves and those around us. We are thrilled for the opportunity to bring all of these amazing practices together & share this space with our community!

Clayton Reeves
FOUNDATION HEALTH AND FITNESS: GENERAL MANAGER
541 SOCIAL CLUB: FOUNDER
Growing up in Bend, I always dreamt of becoming an integral part of this great community. After graduating from Oregon State University with a degree in Exercise Sport Science, I was recruited by EXOS, a sports performance-based company where I had the humble pleasure of working with some of the most acclaimed athletes in the world. My role transitioned from coaching to managing, then directing global Adidas sports facilities. For the last decade, I traveled the world, living in five different countries while I launched and managed facilities to support the fitness, health, and wellness needs of adidas employees. I moved back to Bend with the goal of realizing my childhood dream of owning a business in my hometown. The big idea came from a conversation with friends. We were talking about how great it would be if I could put a sauna and ice bath on a trailer to take to events and parties. That's when it hit me … Mobile Contrast Therapy! The idea was a spark that turned into a fire and I officially opened 541 Social Club in November of 2022.
I’m excited, thankful, and eager to continue supporting this community, earning your trust, and providing an amazing experience for participants and members.

Matthew Rawlins
MEMBERSHIP SERVICES AND SALES MANAGER
Almost two decades ago, after a significant and painful event, I was forced to re-engineer my life. I found myself experimenting with numerous nutrition protocols. From supplements, sleep, and movement to ice baths, saunas, and breath work, my pursuit towards wholeness and peak performance has taken me to many different places.
My personal progress was amplified by a supportive community that helped me confront and overcome my challenges. Because of that, I connect strongly with our mission here at Foundation to foster a community where members engage in their own transformative journey and become the fullest version of themselves.
In my role overseeing member services, I see myself as the chief curator of community.
I began practicing this work when I founded a social magazine in SE Portland. We told the stories of a small community, and celebrated the families (and pets) that were the heart of this neighborhood.
I also put this into practice when I built an Airbnb business in the Willamette Valley. I cared deeply for all my guests and wanted to make sure they were taken care of no matter what came up.
If you're seeking a tribe that values transformation and deep, communal connections, I'm here to journey with you. Let's embrace the power of personal growth and family together.

Taelor Cooper
MEMBERSHIP SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE
“I'm Taelor! Fitness and athletics have always been a part of my life. I am a Central Oregon Native and an avid health, wellness, and fitness enthusiast who has a passion for helping people become their best selves!
Growing up, I participated in various sports until I reached high school and narrowed it down to just volleyball. I played my HS career at Redmond High school then continued to chase the sport in college. My passion for the sport led me to pursue coaching 14U club volleyball in the community that I grew up playing in, which is an absolute joy to me.
When I’m not in the gym, I like to spend time with my family. My husband AJ and our two young kiddos, Karsynn and Porter, are my biggest “Why” in life and always my biggest supporters. Some of our hobbies as a family include: getting outside and spending time together as a family, finding the next best coffee shop, and spending the day on the lake in the summer.
I am excited to be apart of the FHF family and cannot wait to share my passion for Health, Wellness, and Fitness with our members and our community! I look forward to meeting and building relationships with you all!”

-
Alexa Morgan
PILATES MANAGER & INSTRUCTOR
Alexa relocated to Bend from San Diego to join her family in 2018. Alexa brings her diversified talents in teaching people to the Pilates environment. As a highly energetic and passionate person, she is a self-starter with a strong regard for integrity and personal connection. She brings her expertise and experience through multiple certifications including, Pilates, TRX, Barre Above, Trigger Point Release and Spin all of which allow her to be a well rounded fitness instructor. Her classes are both fun and challenging with lots of humor involved (when you are laughing you are engaging your core)! She will meet your body where it's at on any given day with the emphasis to conquer your individual goals through a well rounded workout.
Alexa fell in love with Pilates through her own practice that started in 2006 after her first back surgery. She says, “Most of my physical therapy was based around foundation Pilates work, learning the concept of the Pilates breath with movement, engaging the correct core muscles to stabilize through my center and then incorporating intelligent functional movement”.
“I am a huge believer in form to function—let’s get you moving correctly and confidently so you feel balanced, stronger, more connected and ready to conquer whatever life may bring you. I love how great Pilates is for one's mental health and overall mood. The mind body connection that Pilates teaches you is unmatched and I am eager to share my passion, enthusiasm and knowledge with other Pilates enthusiasts''.

Erica Winn
BARRE INSTRUCTOR
Erica has been a lover of all things health, wellness and fitness for as long as she can remember. She was a competitive athlete as a child that got burnt out and took up dancing on her high school team. After a semi-professional dance career, Erica started teaching barre classes in Portland in 2012, and has taught at all of the major barre fitness brands now.
Erica says, “Over the years, I’ve become a true believer in barre fitness as a way to move joyfully for life. The thing that really hooked me on barre and keeps me coming back is that it’s truly such a special modality. Moving within the four walls of a studio has always been a safe haven for me to explore and learn about myself, trust my body and tune into its cues, while taking risks and seeing the growth. And I’ve translated it all into everything I do outside of the studio, which has been life changing.”
She moved to Bend in 2016 to pursue the real food blog - Real Simple Good - that she created and runs with her husband. And more recently in 2023, Erica and her husband started N Zone Sports to bring more options for youth sports to town.
Erica is so happy to be here and loves the supportive and fun community at Foundation Health & Fitness!

Erin Nystrom
BREATH WORK INSTRUCTOR
My career in fitness, health, and wellness started in 2015 and has been continually guided by my insatiable curiosity about the human condition, and a need to explore the the depths of the human experience.
Straight after graduating from university, where I studied social science and psychology, I began working as a certified personal trainer, all the while pursuing a career as an elite athlete in Obstacle Course Racing, eventually going on to compete in two Spartan Race World Championships and the Obstacle Course World Championships before retiring from the sport in 2019.
At the same time, two cornerstone events coincided that would forever change the way I approached health and fitness:
1) I had two great-grandmothers who surpassed the age of 100 around the same time. However, their experiences as centenarians were on completely opposite ends of the spectrum, and
2) I had been experiencing a prolonged struggle with my mental health that was having very negative effects on all aspects of my life.
These two things lead me to dive into health beyond fitness—how lifestyle affects how long we live, and what the quality of that life looks like. From there, the mind-body connection became my main point of focus—and it's not possible to talk about the mind-body connection without talking about the breath.
After working as a trainer for many years, I took a step back to explore other avenues including writing health and wellness content for a popular YouTube channel, managing a health and fitness podcast, and speaking at corporate wellness events.
I'm so thrilled to be back teaching and to bring the culmination of my years of experience, curiosity, research, and experimentation to share the simple tools we can use to live happier, healthier, and more fulfilling lives.
Outside of the gym, you can find me hiking, rock climbing, backpacking, snowboarding, paddleboarding, skateboarding, and learning to freedive.
